Ravenna FC defeated 1-2 by Sasso Marconi: disappointing performance

The Ravenna Football Club welcomes Mauro Antonioli back

The coach who led the team to promotion to Serie C returns to the giallorossa bench

The Ravenna Football Club is pleased to announce that the technical direction of the first team has been entrusted to Mauro Antonioli.

No major introductions are needed for a coach who is associated with one of the most memorable moments in recent giallorossa history: the remarkable comeback against Imolese and the victory in the 2016/17 season that earned promotion back to Serie C. Antonioli demonstrated his professionalism by securing a well-earned safety with five games to spare in the following season. After his time with Ravenna, the Milan-born coach, born in 1968, has led Reggiana, Fermana, Sambenedettese, Imolese, and Forlì.

In this second chapter of his adventure with Ravenna FC, he will once again be accompanied by his long-time assistant Ivan Piccoli and Ermes Morini as the goalkeeping coach.

The club's management extends a warm welcome to Mauro Antonioli and his staff, wishing them a season full of success and satisfaction for the yellow and red colors.

In the big match of the fourth round of the championship, Pistoiese defeated Ravenna FC with a score of 1-0, thanks to a goal by Cuomo in the second half. The match was a true clash at the top, with Ravenna dominating the first half, but the home team reversed the rhythm in the second.

In the 9th minute, Ravenna pushed forward again with Biagi, who attempted a low shot from the edge of the area, but the ball narrowly missed the post.
Pistoiese struggled to respond, but in the 23rd minute, they showed up in Ravenna’s area with Grilli, whose shot from the edge was blocked by the Giallorossi defense. Ravenna continued to control the game: in the 37th minute, D’Orsi broke through on the left and crossed for Milan, but Cecchini made a crucial intervention. In the 39th minute, Pistoiese tried to relieve the pressure with a cross from Diodato to Bertolo, but the shot posed no threat to Fresia.

From the ensuing corner, Polvani tried a close-range shot, but Fresia made a miraculous save. The Giallorossi goalkeeper proved decisive again in the 21st minute, saving a dangerous header from Grilli.
Ravenna's response came in the 25th minute when Manuzzi stole the ball from Bertolo and charged towards the goal, but Cecchini deflected the shot into a corner. Despite a solid defensive performance, Ravenna conceded in the 26th minute: Grilli shot from distance, Fresia parried, but Cuomo was quickest to the rebound and tapped it in for the Pistoiese lead.

Well-deserved last-minute victory for the Giallorossi

On an emotional day, Ravenna FC defeated Tuttocuoio 2-1, securing a valuable home victory. The home team displayed clear dominance throughout the match but had to fight until the very end to claim the three points against a tough and well-organized defensive opponent.

In the first half, Ravenna created several key chances, showing an offensive and dynamic play from the very first minutes. The first opportunity came from a cross by Rrapaj, with Manuzzi nearly scoring with a sliding shot that narrowly missed the goal. Shortly after, Biagi had a good chance, but his shot, well set up by a deep pass from Nappello, flew over the crossbar. Tuttocuoio, adopting an extremely defensive approach, tried to limit Ravenna's attacks as much as possible, relying on tight marking and compact defensive lines.
In the second half, Ravenna increased the pressure further, determined to find the goal. In the 80th minute, the breakthrough came: Rrapaj, one of the standout players on the field, won a penalty after persistent play. From the spot, Nappello made no mistake, putting the home side ahead and igniting the crowd's celebrations. It seemed like Ravenna had sealed the game, but Tuttocuoio found an unexpected equalizer a few minutes later. In their first real offensive chance, Salto managed to head home a cross from the left, outsmarting the Giallorossi defense and bringing the game level again.
Despite the blow, Ravenna didn’t give up. With the heart and determination of lions, the Giallorossi pushed forward once more, led by captain Rrapaj, the absolute standout. In the 89th minute, a clear handball in the box granted Ravenna a second penalty. This time, it was Manuzzi who took responsibility from the spot, slotting the ball past the opposing goalkeeper and delivering victory to his team under the Curva Mero, which erupted in joy.

Ravenna returns to the field to face newly promoted Tuttocuoio

Ravenna FC is ready to take the field for the third matchday of the season, where they will face Tuttocuoio in what promises to be an exciting encounter. Both teams come into the match with 3 points in the standings, each having one win and one loss. Following a convincing 3-0 away victory against Sammaurese, the Giallorossi, led by coach Mauro Antonioli, aim to build on their success and deliver another impressive performance in front of their fans at Stadio Benelli.

Ravenna has entered the season with the ambition to play a leading role, and a victory on Sunday would be an important signal to confirm their aspirations for a top position in the standings. The enthusiasm is high, and the team is working hard to maintain the right level of focus.

Ticketing and useful information:

Tickets for the match are already available on the official website ravennafc.vivaticket.it and at authorized sales points.

Fans are encouraged to arrive at the stadium early to avoid queues at the ticket counters and to follow security guidelines.

On Sunday, the gates and ticket counters at Stadio Benelli will open at 2:00 PM.

On the other hand, Tuttocuoio, led by Aldo Firicano, arrives at Benelli with the goal of securing points to support their journey toward salvation. The Tuscan team has demonstrated solidity and a spirit of sacrifice, relying on experienced players like Salto, formerly of Pistoiese, and the talent of Moras, who the Giallorossi are familiar with after his performance that included 2 goals and an assist, which knocked Ravenna, under Serpini, out of the Coppa Italia two years ago.

It will be a high-intensity challenge, where both teams will seek to capitalize on every opportunity to secure valuable points. Ravenna will need to rely on the support of their fans to drive the team toward another victory.

We look forward to seeing many of you at Benelli to support our lions!

Go Ravenna!
